WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT WALLPAPERS?        

Basically the earliest wallpapers used in Europe were painted with images of popular religious icons. These "domino papers" were pasted within homes of the devout; however, they also enlivened the bleak homes of the poor. Within the next few centuries, papers were hand block-printed,but only remained popular with the poor.

The paper is printed with inks composed of pigment and a vehicle which ties the ink to the backing. Solvents can be acetone or water, for example. 

                                                     

New wallpaper designs are generally derived from sketches purchased from a staff designer or freelance wallpaper designer. The artist lays out the design on tracing paper and completes at least a partial pencil sketch.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF WALLPAPER?

Embossed Wallpaper: The designs are pressed onto a paper backing creating a raised, textured effect. The embossed textured design tends to hide most wall imperfections. Therefore, Embossed Wallpapers can be installed over lightly damaged walls. They are even washable.

Borders: Designs are printed on a paper back than vinyl coated. Borders come in a wide variety of designs and widths. They can be installed in combination with wallpaper or directly on painted surfaces. Natural Bamboo Wallpaper:  Natural Bamboo Wallpaper is made by applying bamboo reeds, or vines onto a paper backing with glue. Actual color and texture of wallpaper will vary slightly from roll to roll.
